Surprise Upgrade! Cloudforce One RFI Token Usage Now Visible in the Dashboard!

Hey, it's me! Today I've got a small but genuinely useful update from the Cloudflare Changelog. Cloudforce One's RFI feature, which lets you hand off security investigations to Cloudflare's team, just got a handy bit of visibility!

What was announced?

According to the Cloudflare Changelog, the Requests for Information (RFI) dashboard in Security Center now shows how many tokens were used for each submitted RFI. You can also see how many tokens remain allocated to your account for the quarter. This is for Cloudforce One subscribers, and you can try it under Application Security > Threat Intelligence > Requests for Information in the dashboard.

The story so far

RFIs let you ask Cloudflare's threat intelligence team, Cloudforce One, to directly investigate a threat or indicator of compromise (IoC) you're worried about. These requests draw from a pool of tokens allocated each quarter, but until now, the dashboard didn't clearly show how many tokens you'd used or how many you had left. It was easy to run out without really noticing.

What changes

With this update, you can now see the token cost of each individual RFI you've submitted, so you can look back and tell which requests were the most expensive in terms of tokens. You can also check your remaining token balance on the spot, making it easier to pace your usage through the quarter. This should also help security teams plan how to allocate tokens across their team.

Dive Deep

Along with this, the "Strategic Threat Research" request type can now only use Routine priority. Whatever higher priority option existed before is no longer selectable for this request type. The source doesn't spell out the exact reason, but it may be an attempt to streamline priority handling for strategic research requests, which tend to consume more tokens.

Wrap-up

Here's the quick recap:

  • Cloudforce One's RFI dashboard now shows the token cost of each submitted RFI
  • You can also check how many tokens remain for the current quarter
  • Strategic Threat Research requests are now limited to Routine priority
  • Find it under Application Security > Threat Intelligence > Requests for Information in the dashboard

If you're a Cloudforce One subscriber who regularly requests threat investigations, this is a small but welcome upgrade!
