What was announced?

On the Cloudflare Changelog, there was news that the AI co-pilot Agent Lee gained two big capabilities: "Write Operations" and "Generative UI." With this update, Agent Lee moves from a passive advisor that only answers questions into an active assistant that can actually operate your account for you.

The story so far

Until now, Agent Lee understood your account configuration and answered questions or suggested what you might do, but it stayed a passive advisor. To actually change a setting, you still had to click through the dashboard yourself.

What changes

With Write Operations, you can just say something like "add an A record for blog.example.com" and Agent Lee will make the change for you. Updating DNS records, modifying SSL/TLS settings, and configuring Workers routes can all be requested in plain language.

And thanks to Generative UI, when you want to know your traffic or error-rate trends, you can simply ask in chat and a graph appears right there. Seeing it as a picture instead of staring at raw numbers is lovely.

Dive Deep

The most important part of write operations is the safety design. Every write operation requires your explicit approval. Before any change is committed, Agent Lee shows you a plain-language summary of what it will do, and nothing runs until you click Confirm. This approval requirement is even enforced at the infrastructure level to prevent unauthorized changes. Reassuring, right?

For Generative UI, it uses your actual account telemetry to draw charts and structured data right inside the chat. It can answer requests like traffic over the last 7 days, the error rate for the past 24 hours, or the cache hit rate for this week, on the spot.

Both features are currently available as a Beta for all users on the Free plan. To try them, log in to the Cloudflare dashboard and select Ask AI in the upper right corner. For more on how to interact with your account using AI, check the Agent Lee documentation.
