You can now take home the code Agent Lee generates!

Hi everyone, it's me, Shii-chan! Today I found an update that fixes the "okay, but how do I actually get this code out of the chat" problem.

Cloudflare Changelog developers.cloudflare.com

What was announced?

On the Cloudflare Changelog, they announced a new export feature for Agent Lee, Cloudflare's AI agent. When Agent Lee generates a project for you, like a starter static site, a Worker, or a scaffold, it can now package the generated files into a temporary Git repository that you clone onto your own machine.

The story so far

Until now, code that Agent Lee generated only existed inside the conversation. Getting it onto your own machine meant copying files out of the chat by hand, one by one. That's fine for a small snippet, but it gets tedious fast for anything bigger, and it's easy to make a mistake along the way.

What changes

Here's how it works:

  • Ask Agent Lee to build something, then ask it to export the code
  • An export card appears, listing the files along with a countdown to expiry
  • Select "Copy clone command," and Agent Lee fetches a fresh command and copies it to your clipboard
  • Run that command in your terminal, then point the repository at your own Git host and push
git remote set-url origin https://your-git-host.example/you/your-repo.git
git push -u origin main

That removes the manual copy-paste step entirely, so you can take a generated project straight to your own GitHub or GitLab.

Dive Deep

It looks like a small convenience feature, but the security design behind it is pretty thoughtful.

  • The repository lives for about 36 hours. It expires roughly 36 hours after creation and is deleted automatically.
  • The clone credential expires in about an hour. You need to clone promptly and push to a repository you control soon after.
  • No credential ever appears in the chat. The clone command and its read-only credential are delivered only when you select "Copy clone command" - never in the message text or conversation history.
  • Nothing is written to your account. The temporary repository lives in Cloudflare-managed storage, and connecting a GitHub or GitLab account isn't required.
  • It's built for small projects. An export can include up to 50 files, up to 100 KB per file, and 2 MB in total.

One more thing worth noting: Agent Lee itself is still in beta, so its features and behavior may keep changing.

Wrap-up

  • Agent Lee can now export the code it generates as a temporary Git repository you clone to your own machine
  • The repository expires in about 36 hours and the clone credential in about an hour, both automatically
  • Credentials never show up in the chat, and no GitHub/GitLab account connection is required
  • The limit is 50 files, 100 KB per file, and 2 MB total, so it's meant for small projects

If you like prototyping quickly with Agent Lee and then want to carry the result straight into your own repository, this update is for you!
