Surprise! Workers Metrics now reveals the full trail of every release!

Hey, it's me! There's a really nice update for anyone running Workers.

Cloudflare Changelog developers.cloudflare.com

What was announced?

According to Cloudflare's Changelog, Workers Metrics charts now show every release within the selected time range, including the full progression of gradual deployments. You can now line up changes in memory, CPU time, errors, or latency with the exact code that was serving traffic at the time.

The story so far

Previously, it was hard to connect a change on the metrics graph with the release that caused it — figuring out "which deployment caused that spike?" took extra digging.

What changes

A gradual deployment now shows up as a single rollout on the chart, with shading that deepens as more traffic shifts to the new version. Hovering over a rollout shows the previous and new versions, the rollout duration, and the traffic percentage configured at each step. Direct deployments that send 100% of traffic to one version still show up as individual markers, and nearby direct deployments are grouped to cut down on visual clutter. This makes it easier to:

  • Find when a regression started — see what traffic percentage was configured when errors, latency, CPU time, or wall time changed
  • Compare rollout stages — check whether a metric changed as more traffic moved to the new version
  • Confirm rollbacks — rollbacks appear as separate release events, so you can check whether metrics recovered afterward

Dive Deep

Versions that are only uploaded, or only configured at 0% traffic, don't appear on the metrics charts. You can view these release annotations from the Metrics tab for your Worker.

Wrap-up

  • Workers Metrics charts now show every release, including gradual deployment progress
  • Hover to see previous/new versions, rollout duration, and traffic percentage
  • Makes it easier to spot regressions, compare rollout stages, and confirm rollbacks
  • A quietly great update if you run gradual deployments on Workers!
