Custom Applications Land in Cloudflare's Application Library!
Hi everyone, it's Shii-chan! Today I'm covering an update to the Application Library in Cloudflare One.
Cloudflare ChangelogWhat was announced?
Cloudflare's Changelog announced that the Application Library now supports custom applications. You can reference them in Gateway DNS, Network, and HTTP policies.
The story so far
The library was mainly about the applications already listed in it. It likely wasn't ideal when you wanted to handle your own in-house applications as a group.
What changes
You can define an application with:
- Hostnames
- IP subnets
- Both hostnames and IP subnets
You can optionally add TCP or UDP ports or port ranges to restrict HTTP and Network matching.
Dive Deep
This release also includes:
- Improved search and filtering in the Application Library
- Updated interfaces, data, and metrics for reviewing applications
- Easier selection and management of applications in the Gateway policy builder
See Custom applications and Applications and app types in the docs for details.
Wrap-up
- Create custom applications in the Application Library
- Define them by hostname, IP subnet, and ports
- Reference them in DNS, Network, and HTTP policies
- Search, filtering, and the policy builder got nicer too
This one is for Zero Trust admins who want tidier policies for internal apps!
