What was announced?
OpenAI News announced that ChatGPT Ads, ChatGPT's advertising platform, is expanding to 31 European countries. The rollout starts next week, and the list of countries includes:
- Germany
- France
- Spain
- Italy
- Sweden
- Norway
- Denmark
- the Netherlands
- Austria

The story so far
ChatGPT Ads started as a pilot in the United States back in February. Over the past six months, it expanded to eight more markets. This European rollout of 31 countries is much bigger than that — OpenAI calls it its "largest expansion to date."
What changes
Advertisers will be able to reach people across Europe at the exact moment they're exploring options, comparing choices, and making decisions — whether that's planning a trip, choosing software, furnishing a home, or learning something new. Access starts through the OpenAI Ads Solutions team, agency partners, and technology partners, with self-service access through Ads Manager following later this summer.
On the user side, ads will only show to people on the Free and Go plans. Plus, Pro, and Enterprise subscriptions remain ad-free, just like before.
