What was announced?

According to OpenAI News, ChatGPT Ads is expanding to Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Taiwan.

OpenAI frames this around its mission to make sure artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity, saying ad revenue helps expand access to free and low-cost ChatGPT.

The story so far

ChatGPT Ads was already live in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and India. With this expansion into Southeast Asia and Taiwan, it's now available in more than 60 countries in total.

What changes

Advertisers can get access through agency partners like dentsu, Havas Media, Omnicom Media, Publicis Groupe, and WPP, or through technology partners, and eligible businesses also get a self-serve option.

For users, nothing changes about the core policy: ads only show to Free and Go plan users, not Pro, Plus, or Enterprise subscribers. User data isn't sold, and ads don't influence what ChatGPT says in its responses.
