What was announced?

It can gather information across your apps and workflows, and produce finished materials like spreadsheets, slides, documents, and even web apps. It breaks complex projects into smaller steps and works through them independently for hours at a time.

Under the hood, it's built on Codex, OpenAI's coding agent technology. More than 5 million people use Codex every week, and it turns out more than 1 million of them are already using it for work outside software development. ChatGPT Work leans into that shift toward general-purpose use.
