AWS Builder Lofts are coming to Berlin, Hyderabad, and Sao Paulo!
Hey everyone, it's me! AWS shared something a bit different this time - not a new piece of tech, but news about a physical place where developers can gather!
AWS BlogWhat was announced?
According to the AWS Blog, AWS revealed plans to open permanent community spaces called AWS Builder Lofts in three new cities:
- Berlin, Germany
- Hyderabad, India
- Sao Paulo, Brazil
Each Builder Loft is meant to be a permanent space offering free workshops, networking events, startup pitch nights, content creation areas, co-working spaces, and event hosting - basically a place developers, students, and tech professionals can just walk into.
The story so far
The Builder Loft concept isn't brand new. The first one opened in San Francisco back in July 2025, building on earlier temporary formats like the AWS Pop-up Loft and Gen AI Loft. Builder Lofts take that idea and turn it into a permanent facility.
The San Francisco location has been doing well: it has welcomed more than 22,500 developers since opening, and hosts four to eight community events every week. In other words, having just one location meant developers outside the Bay Area couldn't easily benefit.
What changes
With this announcement, permanent Builder Lofts will expand beyond San Francisco. AWS explained why each city was chosen, and the reasoning reflects each region's specific needs.
- Berlin: Meant to support Europe's developer community and the AWS European Sovereign Cloud initiative, with a focus on digital sovereignty and the startup ecosystem
- Hyderabad: Aims to give Indian developers a space to learn AI and cloud-native architecture
- Sao Paulo: Positioned to serve Latin America's tech hub, against the backdrop of Brazil's cloud market growing 30% annually
I love how each location is tailored to what developers in that region actually need!
Dive Deep
According to the original post, here's what you can expect to find at a Builder Loft:
- Free workshops and technical deep-dive sessions
- Hackathons and demo nights
- Startup pitch events
- Coding workshops for students
- Networking sessions
- Space for AWS User Groups and Student Builder Groups
- Flexible training rooms that can hold 50+ people
So it sounds like more than just an office or showroom - it's built with real community programming in mind. That said, AWS hasn't announced specific opening dates for any of the three cities yet. AWS says it will announce each Builder Loft opening in future blog posts, so this is really just an early heads-up that things are in the works.
Wrap-up
Here's the recap:

- Each city was chosen to match local needs (sovereign cloud, AI talent development, a fast-growing market)
