Hey everyone, it's me, Shii-chan! Today I've got an update that VMware users are going to love.

What was announced?

From AWS's What's New, Amazon Elastic VMware Service (EVS) now supports VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.0 and 9.1. That means you can run the latest VCF software on EC2 bare-metal instances right inside your own Amazon VPC.

At the same time, AWS also published a Solutions for EVS GitHub repository full of examples, templates, and Infrastructure as Code resources.

The story so far

EVS has always been about bringing your VMware environment onto AWS while you keep using the tools and processes you already know from your on-premises data center. This update adds the newest VCF generation — 9.0 and 9.1 — to that mix.

What changes

Teams who want VCF 9.0 / 9.1 can now pick the latest version on AWS infrastructure too. You keep full control over installation, operations, and management, so it feels a lot like running it on-prem. You can run everything yourself, or lean on AWS partner support to operate it.
