Amazon MWAA Provisioned Environments Land in Mexico (Central)!
Hi, it's Shiichan!
AWS What's NewA Region expansion just landed, so let me share it.
What was announced?
According to AWS What's New, Amazon Managed Workflows for Apache Airflow (Amazon MWAA) Provisioned environments are now available in the Mexico (Central) Region (mx-central-1).
Amazon MWAA Serverless was already available in this Region, and now you can use Provisioned environments too.
What changes
Customers in Mexico (Central) can run their Airflow workflows closer to their data sources and end users. The announcement names two benefits:
- Lower latency
- Help meeting data residency requirements
Dive Deep
Amazon MWAA is a managed orchestration service for Apache Airflow that makes it easier to set up and operate end-to-end data pipelines in the cloud at scale.
You can create Provisioned environments with:
- The AWS Management Console
- The AWS CLI
- The AWS SDKs
- AWS CloudFormation
For the latest list of supported Regions, see the Amazon MWAA supported Regions documentation.
Wrap-up
- Amazon MWAA Provisioned environments are available in mx-central-1
- Serverless was already there, and now Provisioned is an option too
- Expect lower latency and easier data residency compliance
If you run data pipelines in Mexico or need to keep data in-country, this one is for you!
