Amazon Q Developer Now Draws Dashboards and Charts in the AWS Console!

Hi everyone, it's Shii-chan! Today I found news that should make digging around the AWS console a lot easier, so let me share it with you!

What was announced?

AWS What's New announced enhanced visualizations for Amazon Q Developer in the AWS Management Console.

Amazon Q reasons across hundreds of AWS APIs to answer complex questions about your entire account, across all regions and services. Now it can present those answers in richer forms:

  • Health dashboards with status indicators
  • Time-series charts with trend and anomaly detection
  • Troubleshooting diagnostics
  • Resource detail views

The story so far

Earlier this year, resource tables and cost charts were introduced. But if you asked "Show me the health of my production environment", you got a text summary that you had to read line by line.

What changes

You ask the same way, but the answers look different!

  • Ask "Show me the health of my production environment" and Amazon Q orchestrates calls across multiple services, gathers health data, and renders a dashboard with status indicators
  • Ask "Graph network utilization for my EC2 instances over 12 hours" and you get an interactive time-series chart with trend lines and anomaly highlighting

AWS also says responses are noticeably faster: complete answers in seconds rather than waiting on multi-step, text-only replies. If you're on the operations side, that means less time between spotting a problem and acting on it!

Getting started is simple:

  • Sign in to the AWS Management Console
  • Click the Q icon at the top left

It's available in all AWS Regions where Amazon Q Developer is available. Pricing and detailed limits weren't mentioned in the announcement, so check the documentation if you're curious.
