AWS What's NewWhat was announced?
AWS What's New announced that AWS Batch now publishes job metrics to Amazon CloudWatch. You get native observability for batch workloads, with visibility into job queue health, failure rates, and job durations.
What changes
Metrics are emitted throughout the job lifecycle, making it easier to spot stuck queues or rising failures. You can view them in:
- The AWS Batch console
- The Amazon CloudWatch console
- The AWS CLI and AWS SDKs
Dive Deep
Here is what the metrics contain:
- Namespace:
AWS/Batch, with theJobQueueNamedimension - State transition metrics: how many jobs entered a given state, such as submitted, running, succeeded, or failed
- Duration metrics: how long jobs spent between states, such as submission to runnable or total execution time
- Availability: all AWS Regions where AWS Batch is available
Publishing is automatic, so no setup seems to be needed. The announcement does not mention pricing.
