Did You Know AWS CodeDeploy Just Landed in Five More Regions?

Hey there, it's Shiichan! I've got an update today about a deployment automation service expanding to more Regions.

AWS What's New aws.amazon.com

What was announced?

AWS's What's New page announced that AWS CodeDeploy is now available in five additional AWS Regions:

  • Asia Pacific (New Zealand)
  • Asia Pacific (Thailand)
  • Asia Pacific (Taipei)
  • Asia Pacific (Malaysia)
  • Mexico (Central)

AWS CodeDeploy is a fully managed deployment service that automates application deployments to Amazon EC2 instances, on-premises servers, AWS Lambda functions, and Amazon ECS services.

The story so far

Until now, CodeDeploy wasn't directly available in these five Regions. Teams operating systems near New Zealand, Thailand, Taipei, Malaysia, or Mexico Central had to either use CodeDeploy from a more distant Region or build their own deployment tooling. The extra distance meant more latency, and it was an even bigger headache for organizations that need to keep data within their own country or region.

What changes

With this expansion, teams near these Regions can now access CodeDeploy locally. That means lower latency, plus more options for organizations that care about data residency. The core CodeDeploy experience — automated deployments to EC2 instances, Lambda functions, and ECS services — stays exactly the same, so teams already familiar with CodeDeploy can move straight into the closer Region. It's still the same tool for developers and DevOps engineers who want to ship features quickly while avoiding downtime and error-prone manual deployments.

Dive Deep

With this expansion, AWS CodeDeploy is now available across 34 AWS commercial Regions, plus AWS GovCloud (US) and the AWS China Regions. The basic value proposition — scaling seamlessly from a single instance to thousands — hasn't changed. Check the AWS CodeDeploy product page for full details.

Wrap-up

  • AWS CodeDeploy is now available in five new Regions: Asia Pacific (New Zealand, Thailand, Taipei, Malaysia) and Mexico (Central)
  • That brings total coverage to 34 commercial Regions, plus AWS GovCloud (US) and the AWS China Regions
  • The core deployment automation for EC2, on-premises, Lambda, and ECS stays the same, now with lower latency and easier data residency compliance nearby

If you run systems near these Regions and are thinking about deployment automation, this is good news for you!
