The Cost and Usage widget arrives in AWS's European Sovereign Cloud (Germany)!

Hi, it's me! Today let's talk about an AWS console update!

AWS What's New aws.amazon.com

What was announced?

According to AWS What's New, the Cost and Usage widget in AWS Console Home is now available in the AWS European Sovereign Cloud (Germany) Region! It's a widget that surfaces insights from Cost Explorer and Cost Optimization Hub right on your console home dashboard.

The story so far

The Cost and Usage widget was already available in other regions, but it hadn't reached the AWS European Sovereign Cloud (Germany) yet — the sovereign cloud built to keep data and control within the EU. Until now, users on that sovereign cloud couldn't get an at-a-glance view of their costs straight from the console home screen.

What changes

With this update, users on the AWS European Sovereign Cloud (Germany) can now add the Cost and Usage widget to their Console Home dashboard too! Here's what the widget lets you do:

  • Track month-to-date and forecasted costs
  • See savings opportunities surfaced by Cost Optimization Hub
  • Check how spend breaks down by service over time

No need to open Cost Explorer separately — you can get a quick read on your costs right from the home screen.

Dive Deep

Getting started is simple.

  1. Sign in to the AWS Management Console
  2. Select "Add widgets" on Console Home
  3. Drag the Cost and Usage widget onto your dashboard
