What was announced?

According to AWS What's New, the AWS Glue SAP OData connector and several zero-ETL integrations are now available in the AWS GovCloud (US-West) and AWS GovCloud (US-East) Regions. The supported sources are Amazon DynamoDB, Salesforce, and SAP OData, and you can load that data into destinations like Amazon Redshift or Amazon S3.

The story so far

Until now, getting data out of SAP systems and into an analytics platform meant writing your own extraction logic or standing up third-party middleware. And even where zero-ETL integrations like these existed in standard Regions, they weren't yet available in a regulated environment like GovCloud. Teams at government agencies or in regulated industries had no way to use them.

What changes

With this update, teams running in GovCloud can now set up a no-code integration to automatically load DynamoDB, Salesforce, and SAP data into Redshift or S3. There's no need to build and maintain a custom data pipeline yourself, so you can focus on analysis in your data lake or warehouse instead.

The SAP OData connector pulls data directly from the OData services that SAP systems expose, so you don't need custom extraction logic or third-party middleware for that either.

Setup is straightforward: you create a new zero-ETL integration from the AWS Glue console, and the whole thing is configured through a no-code interface. Once it's set up, AWS fully manages it for you, continuously ingesting and keeping your replica up to date.

Right now, it's available in two Regions: AWS GovCloud (US-West) and AWS GovCloud (US-East).
