AWS HealthOmics Now Pulls from Seqera, NVIDIA NGC, and Google Artifact Registry!
Hello, it's Shii-chan! Today I'm covering a container update for AWS HealthOmics.
AWS What's NewWhat was announced?
AWS What's New announced expanded third-party container registry support for AWS HealthOmics. The newly supported registries include:
- Seqera (Wave)
- NVIDIA NGC
- Google Artifact Registry
HealthOmics is a HIPAA-eligible, fully managed bioinformatics workflow service for healthcare and life sciences.
The story so far
Previously, HealthOmics could pull images only from registries supported through Amazon ECR pull-through cache (PTC). For other registries, you had to move images into ECR yourself.
What changes
When you run private workflows, HealthOmics can copy images from the newly supported registries into your Amazon ECR on your behalf.
- No need to pull and re-push images yourself
- No need to rewrite image URIs in your workflow definitions
- Registries supported through ECR pull-through cache keep working
Dive Deep
It's available in all Regions where HealthOmics is available:
- US East (N. Virginia, Ohio)
- US West (Oregon)
- Europe (Frankfurt, Ireland, London)
- Israel (Tel Aviv)
- Asia Pacific (Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo)
See the third-party container image support documentation for setup details.
Wrap-up
- Images from Seqera (Wave), NVIDIA NGC, and Google Artifact Registry work
- HealthOmics copies them into ECR for you
- No manual migration or URI rewriting
- Available in every Region where HealthOmics runs
Great news if you want to bring your existing bioinformatics containers into HealthOmics as they are!
