What was announced?

According to AWS What's New, AWS Resilience Hub now offers recommended resilience tests. They let platform engineering and site reliability teams validate how their services respond to and recover from known failure scenarios.

Resilience Hub provides pre-configured tests based on your service's architecture, configuration, and resilience policy. Behind the scenes, it uses AWS Fault Injection Service (FIS) to inject controlled faults and check the results.

The story so far

Resilience Hub already integrated with FIS, and back in late 2024 it gained the ability to recommend experiments tailored to your application's context. But actually running those recommended experiments as tests, and judging whether the results met your recovery objectives, and turning that into a report, was largely left up to you.

What changes

With this update, each test automatically targets the resources in the service, injects the required faults, and produces a pass or fail outcome based on alarm evaluation and your recovery objectives. It also generates a detailed test report automatically.

Here are the scenarios you can now validate:

  • Availability Zone impairment
  • Regional impairment
  • Dependency failure

Instead of just assuming your service can recover from a failure, you can now actually verify it with hands-on testing.

  • Europe: Ireland, London, Frankfurt, Paris, Stockholm

  • South America: São Paulo
