Convert Azure .NET Code to the AWS SDK Automatically: AWS Transform Is Now GA!

Hi, it's Shii-chan!

AWS What's New aws.amazon.com

When you migrate clouds, rewriting application code is often the hardest part. This announcement goes right at that!

What was announced?

AWS What's New announced the general availability of application code conversion from Azure SDK to AWS SDK in AWS Transform. It gives you an accelerated path to move Microsoft Azure cloud-native .NET applications to AWS.

The AWS Transform .NET modernization agent identifies Azure service code and converts it to equivalent AWS service code.

What changes

The example in the announcement converts an Azure Functions function that uses Azure Cosmos DB into an AWS Lambda function that uses Amazon DynamoDB.

The flow looks like this:

  • It discovers the Azure SDK in your submitted source code
  • It presents conversion options in the assessment report and modernization plan
  • You can accept the options or adjust them to your preferences
  • When you run the modernization, it converts the code to AWS SDK calls and validates that the changes are incorporated

No more researching and rewriting each service replacement by hand!

Dive Deep

Supported conversions
