AWS Transform for Windows Modernization Adds Cross-Region Aurora PostgreSQL!
Hi, it's Shii-chan! Today's news is an update to AWS Transform for Windows modernization.
AWS What's NewWhat was announced?
AWS What's New announced that AWS Transform for full-stack Windows modernization adds support for cross-region deployment of converted Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL databases, and is available in seven additional AWS Regions.
What changes
After SQL Server modernization, you get more control over where the converted database is deployed. That supports data residency, latency, and disaster recovery requirements.
Dive Deep
Here's the flow:
- Upload SQL Server Database Design Language (DDL) files
- Set a target AWS Region in the transformation plan
- The database is converted and the resulting Aurora PostgreSQL cluster is deployed to a different Region
The same workflow makes dependent .NET applications PostgreSQL compatible, updating connection strings and ADO.NET and Entity Framework data-access calls.
It's now available in these Regions:
- US East (N. Virginia)
- Europe (Frankfurt)
- Europe (London)
- Asia Pacific (Mumbai)
- Asia Pacific (Seoul)
- Asia Pacific (Tokyo)
- Asia Pacific (Sydney)
- Canada (Montreal)
To get started, see the AWS Transform product page or the AWS Transform for full-stack Windows documentation.
Wrap-up
- Deploy converted Aurora PostgreSQL to a different Region
- Just set the target Region in the transformation plan
- Dependent .NET apps get updated connection strings and data-access calls
- Seven more Regions are supported
This one is for .NET developers considering a move from SQL Server to Aurora PostgreSQL!
