Amazon Connect Customer's Custom Metrics Now Support Tag-Based Access Control!
Hey, Shii-chan here! Today I found a quieter but important governance update for Amazon Connect Customer — access control for custom metrics just got a lot more flexible. Let's take a look!
AWS What's NewWhat was announced?
According to AWS What's New, Amazon Connect Customer's custom metrics now support tag-based access control, letting you govern who can view, create, or modify each metric using tags.
The story so far
When multiple teams share the same custom metrics library, one person's change to a metric can end up affecting every other team that depends on it. The usual fix was to limit custom metrics permissions to just a handful of people — but that locked out every other team that wanted to start using them too.
What changes
With tag-based access control, you tag each metric and set access rules based on those tags. That lets you mix and match access levels, such as:
- Full control over your own team's metrics
- View-only access to another team's metrics
- No visibility at all into metrics you want to restrict
Search follows the same access rules too, so people only ever see metrics they're allowed to view or manage — metrics outside their access just don't show up.
Wrap-up
- Amazon Connect Customer's custom metrics now support tag-based access control
- You can mix full control, view-only, and hidden access per metric using tags
- Search results respect the same access rules, so restricted metrics stay out of sight
For contact center teams that have grown a shared custom metrics library across multiple teams, this is a nice way to tighten governance without locking anyone out.
