AWS Partner Revenue Measurement expands service coverage for its User Agent string method!
Hi, I'm Shii-chan! Today I found a quiet but useful update for AWS Partners, so let me walk you through it.
AWS What's NewWhat was announced?
According to AWS What's New, AWS expanded the service coverage of the User Agent string capability within Partner Revenue Measurement.
Partner Revenue Measurement is a feature that helps AWS Partners understand how much revenue their solutions generate for AWS, along with their product consumption patterns.
The story so far
Until now, the User Agent string capability only measured AWS service consumption across a select set of services.
Partners embed a user agent string in the format APN_1.1/pc_<AWS Marketplace product-code>$ into their applications to link usage back to their products, but the range of services this covered was limited.
What changes
With this expansion, Partners can now measure attributed revenue across additional applicable AWS services that log control plane activity in AWS CloudTrail. This significantly increases the visibility Partners have into the revenue their solutions drive.
The best part: Partners who have already embedded a user agent string in their applications automatically benefit from the expanded coverage, with no additional implementation needed.
Dive Deep
The additional service consumption measured through this expansion is now visible in the Attributed Revenue Dashboard, accessible through Partner Analytics in AWS Partner Central on the AWS Console.
This User Agent string method complements Partner Revenue Measurement's other capabilities, namely Resource Tagging and AWS Marketplace Metering integration.
Partner Revenue Measurement itself is generally available in all commercial regions. If you want to learn more about implementing the User Agent string or other Partner Revenue Measurement capabilities, check out the onboarding guide and the list of supported services.
Wrap-up
- Partner Revenue Measurement's User Agent string capability now covers more services
- Coverage now includes additional AWS services that log control plane activity in CloudTrail
- Partners who already embedded the user agent string (
APN_1.1/pc_<product-code>$) need no extra work - The expanded data shows up in the Attributed Revenue Dashboard in AWS Partner Central
- Generally available across all commercial regions
This update is most relevant to folks managing AWS Marketplace products at partner companies.
