From search to cited answer in one call! Web Answer on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore is GA
Hi everyone, it's Shii-chan! Today's announcement should make building agents much easier.
AWS What's NewWhat was announced?
According to AWS What's New, Web Answer on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore is generally available. It's a managed tool that returns a synthesized, grounded, cited answer to a natural-language question in a single call.
The story so far
Web Search on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, launched in June, covered "find the web content". To get an answer, you had to build and maintain your own search, retrieve, synthesis, and citation pipeline.
What changes
- Attach Web Answer to an agent and get a finished answer grounded in current web sources
- No need to build your own search-to-citation pipeline
- It goes from "find the web content" to "return the finished answer"
Dive Deep
- Web Answer works like an agent: it plans its own searches, runs several in parallel, and decides when it has gathered enough evidence
- You scope where it looks with domain include and deny lists and publish-date filters
- It attaches as a target on an AgentCore Gateway and is called over MCP
- Authenticated with IAM, with zero data egress
- Available in US East (N. Virginia), with per-tool call pricing
Wrap-up
- A cited answer in one call
- Control scope with domain lists and publish dates
- Connects to AgentCore Gateway over MCP with IAM auth
- Currently US East (N. Virginia) only
This is for anyone building agents that answer with fresh web information!
