Cloudflare Radar Adds Two New Routing Widgets to Peek Inside the Network!
Hey there, it's me, Shiichan! Today I found a nicely nerdy update that lets you peek behind the scenes of the internet, so let me share it.
Cloudflare ChangelogWhat was announced?
On Cloudflare's Changelog, they announced two new widgets in the Radar routing section. Both are aimed at network operators and make routing information easier to visualize.
The story so far
Radar has always been a free dashboard where you can look at internet traffic and BGP routing data. But it didn't quite have a chart that answered questions like "which networks announce how much IP space from this country?" or "how far along is RPKI protection?" at a glance.
What changes
With these two widgets, routing information at the country and network level becomes readable at a glance. Operators can more easily check the state of their own country or network, and even for the rest of us it's fun just to look at how the internet is put together.
Dive Deep
The first one is Top ASes by Announced IP Space. Shown on a country's routing page, this chart stacks the autonomous systems (ASes) announcing IP space from that country, split into IPv4 and IPv6. Top networks are color-coded, and the rest are grouped as "Other."
The second is RPKI ROA Deployment Timeseries. Added to the RPKI sub-page, this chart tracks the share of announced BGP space covered by a valid ROA (Route Origin Authorization) over time. IPv4 and IPv6 appear as separate lines, you can toggle between prefix counts and IP address space, and you can view it at the global, country, and AS levels.
Both are powered by new BGP API endpoints. /bgp/ips/top/ases returns the top ASes per country, and /bgp/rpki/roas/timeseries returns ROA coverage over time.
