Cloudflare One Client for Windows Goes GA — and Finally Fixes That Defender False Positive!

Hey, it's Shii-chan! Here's some news for all my Windows folks today!

What was announced?

According to Cloudflare's Changelog, version 2026.7.1343.0 of the Cloudflare One Client for Windows is now generally available (GA) on the stable releases downloads page. Just like the Linux and macOS versions, several features previously in beta are now bundled into the stable release.

The story so far

Unclear reauthentication guidance and slow connections on networks without HTTP/3 support were issues shared across all platforms. On top of that, the Windows client had its own problem: a process leak during IPC client-creation failures that could eat up system resources.

What changes

Reauthentication notifications are now clearer and redirect to your browser when needed. Connecting through networks that block HTTP/3 is also smoother now, thanks to a fallback that tries HTTP/2 first.

And specific to Windows, the process leak that used to drain system resources during IPC client-creation failures is now fixed. Microsoft Defender no longer falsely flags the installer as malicious when deployed through Intune — a small fix, but a welcome one for IT admins!
