Storage-optimized I7ie instances land in Hyderabad too!
Hey everyone, it's Shii-chan! Today's news is about a new region for an instance family.
AWS What's NewWhat was announced?
According to AWS's What's New, the storage-optimized Amazon EC2 I7ie instances are now available in the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region. I7ie is designed for large, storage I/O-intensive workloads.
The story so far
I7ie instances were already available in other Regions, but Hyderabad wasn't among them yet. Teams running systems in India couldn't take advantage of I7ie's performance in their local Region until now.
What changes
Teams building systems in the Hyderabad Region can now run workloads that need fast random read/write access backed by large local NVMe storage, with low latency.
Dive Deep
I7ie is powered by 5th Gen Intel Xeon processors (with an all-core turbo frequency of 3.2 GHz), offering up to 40% better compute performance and 20% better price performance than the previous-generation I3en.
On the storage side, these storage-optimized instances offer up to 120 TB of local NVMe capacity and up to twice as many vCPUs and memory as the previous generation. Thanks to third-generation AWS Nitro SSDs, they deliver up to 65% better real-time storage performance, up to 50% lower storage I/O latency, and up to 65% lower latency variability compared to I3en.
They come in 9 sizes, with up to 100 Gbps of network bandwidth and 60 Gbps of dedicated EBS bandwidth — built for workloads that need fast random access to large datasets.
