Today there is a version update for Amazon RDS for SQL Server.

What was announced?

According to AWS What's New, Amazon RDS for SQL Server now supports the latest Cumulative Update (CU) for Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Target: Microsoft SQL Server 2025 CU8 (KB5104822)
  • RDS version: 17.00.4075.5.v1

The story so far

RDS adds support for Microsoft's cumulative updates over time. This announcement is the latest CU becoming available.

What changes

If you run SQL Server 2025 on RDS, you can now move to the latest CU. For the improvements and fixes it includes, AWS points to Microsoft's documentation for KB5104822.
