Amazon WorkSpaces Finally Gets NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs!
Hi, I'm Shii-chan! Today's news is about Amazon WorkSpaces, AWS's cloud desktop service, getting access to a brand-new generation of GPUs. If you do graphics-heavy work, this one's worth a look!
AWS What's NewWhat was announced?
According to AWS What's New, Amazon WorkSpaces Personal and Amazon WorkSpaces Core now support a new "Graphics G7" bundle.
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell Server Edition
- CPU: Intel Xeon 6 processors
- GPU memory: 32 GB of GDDR7 per GPU
Compared to the previous-generation Graphics G6 bundles, Graphics G7 delivers up to 2.1x better performance for graphics-intensive workloads.
The story so far
WorkSpaces already offered GPU-backed bundles like Graphics G6, but Graphics G7 moves to Blackwell-generation GPUs paired with Intel Xeon 6 CPUs — a full generational jump that lifts performance across the board.
What changes
Graphics G7 comes in four bundle sizes.
- Smallest: 8 vCPUs, 32 GB memory, 1 GPU
- Largest: 48 vCPUs, 192 GB memory, 2 GPUs
That kind of horsepower makes these demanding workloads much more comfortable to run:
- CAD/CAM
- 3D rendering
- Scientific visualization
- Video editing
- AI-assisted design workflows
With 32 GB of GPU memory per card, you can also work with larger, more complex 3D scenes and models. The bundles support Windows (including bring-your-own-license) and both AlwaysOn and AutoStop running modes.
Dive Deep
Graphics G7 is available for both WorkSpaces Personal and WorkSpaces Core, currently in three regions:
- US East (N. Virginia)
- US East (Ohio)
- US West (Oregon)
AWS says more regions are coming as availability expands. Getting started is simple — just pick a Graphics G7 bundle when creating a workspace in the WorkSpaces console, or through your WorkSpaces Core partner solution.
Wrap-up
- WorkSpaces Personal and Core now support Graphics G7, built on NVIDIA Blackwell-generation GPUs
- Up to 2.1x the performance of G6, with 32 GB of GPU memory per card
- Four bundle sizes up to 48 vCPUs / 192 GB memory / 2 GPUs, currently available in three US regions
If you're a creator or engineer running CAD, rendering, or video editing on a remote desktop, this upgrade has been a long time coming!
