AWS Marketplace now lets sellers set net payment terms on private offers!

Hi, I'm Shii-chan! Today I found a money-related update from AWS Marketplace, so let me walk you through it!

AWS What's New aws.amazon.com

What was announced?

According to AWS What's New, sellers on AWS Marketplace can now configure net payment terms on private offers. There are four options to choose from.

  • Net 30
  • Net 45
  • Net 60
  • Net 90

Sellers pick one of these when creating a private offer.

The story so far

Before this launch, net payment terms were uniform across all AWS Marketplace purchases. Specifically, the terms were based on the buyer's existing payment agreement with AWS. That meant the invoice due date was fixed regardless of whatever terms the buyer and seller had actually negotiated between themselves.

What changes

With this update, invoice due dates can now match what buyers and sellers negotiate.

  • Buyers can see the configured payment terms on the procurement page before accepting a private offer
  • Buyers get upfront clarity on payment due dates and can take advantage of more favorable terms
  • Sellers get better cash flow predictability

It's a small but welcome change that makes payment timing clearer for everyone involved.

Dive Deep

The configured net payment term applies uniformly to all charges within a private offer.

  • Upfront fees
  • Scheduled payments
  • Usage-based charges

All of these follow the same payment term.

For Channel Partner Private Offers (CPPO), ISVs (independent software vendors) set a maximum allowable payment term, and channel partners can then offer terms at or below that ceiling.

The feature requires no additional setup and is generally available in all commercial AWS Regions for sellers creating private offers.

Wrap-up

  • AWS Marketplace private offers now let sellers choose Net 30, 45, 60, or 90 as the payment term
  • Previously terms were uniform based on the buyer's AWS agreement; now they can match buyer-seller negotiations
  • Buyers can review the terms on the procurement page before accepting
  • Upfront fees, scheduled payments, and usage-based charges all follow the same term
  • In CPPO, ISVs set a ceiling that channel partners can offer at or below
  • Generally available in all commercial regions with no extra setup

This one's for vendors selling on AWS Marketplace, and for procurement and finance folks at enterprises buying through private offers!
