Hi, it's Shii-chan! The new generation of burstable instances has reached São Paulo.

AWS What's New aws.amazon.com

What was announced?

AWS What's New says Amazon EC2 T8i instances are now available in South America (São Paulo). They're powered by custom sixth generation Intel Xeon 6 processors, available exclusively on AWS, and built on the latest sixth generation AWS Nitro cards.

The story so far

T8i was already offered in several Regions, such as N. Virginia, Frankfurt, and Tokyo. São Paulo joins that list.

What changes

In the South America Region, you can now move from T3 to T8i for better price performance. T8i uses the same CPU credit system as T3, with Standard and Unlimited modes, so existing T3 customers can upgrade and benefit right away, lowering their TCO.

Dive Deep

Compared with T3, T8i offers:

  • Up to 30% better price performance
  • Up to 70% higher compute performance
  • 1.25x higher network bandwidth
  • 2.4x higher EBS bandwidth

Four sizes are available:

  • nano
  • micro
  • small
  • medium

They're designed for workloads with low to moderate CPU utilization, such as data processing, login gateways, small databases, batch processing, event-driven functions, CI/CD pipelines, microservices, and low-traffic websites.

T8i.micro and T8i.small are available under the AWS Free Tier. For customers new to AWS or migrating from on-premises, T8i is a cost-effective entry point.

Wrap-up

  • T8i is now available in São Paulo
  • Intel Xeon 6 and sixth generation Nitro cards, up to 30% better price performance than T3
  • Four sizes (nano, micro, small, medium) with the same CPU credit system as T3
  • micro and small are Free Tier eligible

Great if you run T3 in São Paulo and want to cut costs!
