What was announced?
Cloudflare One Appliance now supports LACP (Link Aggregation Control Protocol). It was announced on Cloudflare's Changelog. With it, you can bundle up to six physical LAN ports on the appliance into a single logical interface.
The story so far
Until now, LAN-side ports were basically used one at a time. That meant your bandwidth was capped at a single port's limit, and if that cable or port went down, traffic could stop — a classic single point of failure.
What changes
Bundling ports brings two wins. First, more bandwidth: you can combine several links and push heavier traffic on the LAN side. Second, redundancy: if one link drops, the remaining links keep the traffic flowing, so you remove the single point of failure on the LAN side.
Dive Deep
This feature is in beta on physical appliance hardware running the latest OS. The nice part is that no extra entitlement is required. You can bundle up to six ports.
