Run remote speed tests right from the Cloudflare One Client!

What was announced?

Over on the Cloudflare Changelog, the team shared that you can now run speed tests from the Cloudflare One Client. IT teams can remotely measure the connection speed from a distributed device all the way to Cloudflare's network edge.

The story so far

Before this, when someone said "my laptop feels slow," it was tricky to check from afar how slow it really was or where the problem lived. There just weren't many ways to get a clear picture of the real-world speed on each person's device across a distributed team.

What changes

Now an admin can kick off a speed test from the dashboard and read a device's connection health as actual numbers. That turns "it feels slow" into "here are the exact figures," which makes narrowing down the cause a lot easier.

Dive Deep

There are three categories of measurements:

• Internet speed: download and upload throughput
• Latency: download, upload, unloaded latency, and jitter
• Network quality score: video streaming and webchat/real-time communication (RTC) quality

To use it, head to Zero Trust > Insights > Digital experience > Diagnostics in the Cloudflare dashboard and pick Run diagnostics to try it today. It's part of Digital Experience Monitoring, and the measuring is handled by the Cloudflare One Client on the device.
