Manage Cloudflare Mesh HA Replicas Right From the Dashboard

Hey everyone, it's me, Shii-chan! Today I found a nice little dashboard improvement on the networking side, so let me walk you through it.

Cloudflare Changelog developers.cloudflare.com

What was announced?

Over on Cloudflare's Changelog, they announced that the Cloudflare Mesh dashboard now has high availability (HA) replica management. For HA-enabled nodes, you can see per-replica status, Mesh IPs, and connection details, and you can even trigger a failover by hand, right from the UI.

The story so far

Mesh already had a high availability setup, but from the dashboard it was hard to tell which replica was currently active or what each replica's Mesh IP was. Keeping track of failover state took a bit of extra work.

What changes

The node detail page now has replica tabs. Switch between replicas to see each one's Mesh IP, edge data center, origin IP, platform, version, and uptime. Active/passive badges show which replica is routing traffic right now, so the state is clear at a glance. The overview table also gets an HA badge and shows the correct Mesh IP for the active replica.

Dive Deep

The highlight is manual failover. You can promote a passive replica to active with a single click, and the previously active replica switches to standby. Here's the flow:

  1. In the Cloudflare dashboard, go to Networking > Mesh.
  2. Select an HA-enabled node.
  3. Select the passive replica tab.
  4. Select Promote to active and confirm.

Traffic reroutes to the promoted replica immediately. For the details on failover behavior, check the High availability docs.

Wrap-up

  • Cloudflare Mesh's dashboard now has HA replica management.
  • You can see each replica's Mesh IP, connection details, and active/passive state at a glance.
  • You can promote a passive replica to active with one click (manual failover).
  • The overview table also shows an HA badge and the active replica's Mesh IP.

This one's a small-but-handy update for the network folks running HA on Cloudflare Mesh!
