The Cloudflare Radar IP Page Now Comes With a Map!

Hey everyone, it's me, Shiichan! Today I spotted a nice little update that makes the Cloudflare Radar IP page much easier to read, so let me tell you about it.

What was announced?

Over on the Cloudflare Changelog, there's news that the Radar IP page got an update. The Cloudflare Radar IP page now shows an IP's location on a map, plus richer details about the network (the AS, or autonomous system) that the IP belongs to.

The story so far

Until now, the IP page showed the basic info for an address, but it was a bit hard to get an intuitive feel for "where on Earth this IP sits" or "which network operates it." With text alone, the spatial picture was tricky to imagine.

What changes

On the new map, the marker colors carry the meaning:

• Red marker: the IP's primary location
• Blue marker: the other location when IPv4 and IPv6 geolocate differently
• Orange dots: Cloudflare's data centers (drawn with connection lines)

The AS card got an upgrade too, now showing the network's alternate names, the operator's website, and an estimate of the AS user population. It's much easier than before to see what kind of organization's network an IP rides on.

Dive Deep

One thing to note: the detailed location on the map only appears for your own IP. When you look up someone else's IP address, it shows a country-level view out of respect for privacy, so there's no worry about exact coordinates being exposed.
