Hey there, it's me, Shii-chan! Today we've got a nice little compute update. Getting powerful instances closer to your region is a quiet win, but a welcome one.

What was announced?

Amazon EC2 C7a instances are now available in the Asia Pacific (Singapore) Region. This one comes from the AWS What's New feed.

C7a is a compute-optimized type built on 4th Gen AMD EPYC processors (code-named Genoa), with a maximum frequency of 3.7 GHz.

The story so far

Until now, using C7a meant picking one of the other supported regions. For folks based in Singapore or serving users across Asia, this simply adds another place to run them close to home.

What changes

Compared to the previous-generation C6a, C7a can deliver up to 50% higher performance. That makes it a great fit for compute-heavy workloads like batch processing, distributed analytics, high performance computing (HPC), ad serving, highly-scalable multiplayer gaming, and video encoding.

And now that it's in Singapore, it's an easier choice when latency in that region matters.
