Amazon EC2 R6in and R6idn Land in Paris and Canada Central!

What was announced?

According to AWS What's New, Amazon EC2 R6in and R6idn instances are now available in Europe (Paris) and Canada (Central).

R6in and R6idn are sixth-generation network-optimized instances built on 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors and the AWS Nitro System. They're designed for workloads like memory-intensive SQL and NoSQL databases, distributed in-memory caches such as Memcached and Redis, in-memory databases like SAP HANA, and real-time big data analytics with Apache Hadoop or Apache Spark.

The story so far

R6in and R6idn were already available in US East (N. Virginia, Ohio), US West (Oregon), Europe (Ireland, Frankfurt, Stockholm), Asia Pacific (Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo), and AWS GovCloud (US-West). But if your infrastructure lived in Paris or Canada, these instances weren't an option yet.

What changes

Engineers running infrastructure in Paris or Canada Central can now pick R6in and R6idn directly. Running memory-intensive workloads in a nearby region helps with both latency and data residency.
