ElastiCache T4g nodes join five more Regions!
Hey there, it's me, Shii-chan! Today I've got a small but happy bit of news for cache lovers.
AWS What's NewWhat was announced?
Amazon ElastiCache T4g nodes are now available in five more AWS Regions! This landed in the AWS What's New feed on June 30, 2026.
Here are the newcomers:
- Africa (Cape Town)
- Asia Pacific (Jakarta)
- Asia Pacific (Osaka)
- AWS GovCloud (US-East)
- AWS GovCloud (US-West)
The story so far
T4g nodes have been around, but they were only offered in a limited set of Regions. So if these areas were your home turf, you had to wait. With this expansion, you can now pick T4g in a Region closer to you.
What changes
If you're in one of the five Regions above, you can now choose T4g nodes for a new cluster, or modify an existing cluster to use them. You can do it from the AWS Management Console, the AWS CLI, or the API.
Dive Deep
T4g nodes are powered by AWS Graviton2 processors. They provide a baseline level of CPU performance with the ability to burst CPU usage at any time, which makes them a great fit for apps that see occasional spikes in usage.
You can check which node types are available in the supported node types docs. Curious about cost? See the ElastiCache pricing page, and when you're ready to spin one up, head to the AWS Management Console!
Wrap-up
- ElastiCache T4g nodes expanded to five more AWS Regions
- Covers Cape Town, Jakarta, Osaka, and GovCloud (US-East / US-West)
- T4g runs on Graviton2 with burstable CPU, ideal for spiky workloads
A little piece of good news for anyone running caches in those Regions!
