AWS Deadline Cloud monitor now helps users find their accessible resources

Hi, it's Shii-chan!

AWS What's New aws.amazon.com

AWS Deadline Cloud got a small but helpful update!

What was announced?

According to AWS What's New, users who have access to specific queues, fleets, or jobs, rather than an entire farm, can now find the resources they can reach directly from the Deadline Cloud monitor. Deadline Cloud is a fully managed service for compute-intensive workloads such as visual effects, animation, product design, simulation, and gaming.

The story so far

A user with access to only one queue had to get the farm ID from an administrator before they could reach their work.

What changes

  • The monitor shows the queues you have access to
  • It shows the parent IDs needed to reach them
  • It shows your level of access, for both direct and group-inherited permissions
  • Teams can share a single monitor URL across different permission levels

Fewer questions to administrators!

Dive Deep

Resource discovery is available in all AWS Regions where Deadline Cloud is available. See the Deadline Cloud user guide for more.

Wrap-up

  • Find accessible queues, fleets, and jobs in the monitor
  • Parent IDs and access levels are shown
  • One URL can be shared across different permission levels

This is for administrators who split farm permissions finely for rendering and simulation teams!
